Learning Objectives by Level

Level 1 Students can perform basic language functions necessary for survival such as introducing oneself, buying goods, ordering food, and can understand and express contents related to very private and familiar topic such as oneself, family, hobby, weather. Students can create a simple sentence based on an understanding of about 800 basic vocabularies and basic grammar. Students can also understand and organize simple living and practical sentences.
Level 2 Students can perform language functions necessary for talking on the phone, and asking for assistance, and for the use of public facilities such as post offices and banks. Using about 1,500 to 2,000 vocabularies, Students can understand and use paragraphs on private and familiar topics. Students can also distinguish languages appropriate to use in formal and informal situations.
Level 3 Students can easily conduct everyday life and can perform the basic language functions necessary to use various public facilities and maintain social relations. Students can express or understand familiar social material, which is familiar to them, as well as specific material. The basic characteristics of written and spoken language can be understood and used separately.
Level 4 Students can perform the language functions necessary for the utilization of the public facilities and the maintenance of the social relation, and it is possible for students to perform the functions necessary for the general business performance to a certain extent. In addition, they can understand relatively plain contents of news and newspaper articles. Students can understand and use general social and abstract material relatively accurately and fluently. They can understand and use socio-cultural contents based on their frequent idiomatic expressions and understanding of representative Korean culture.
Level 5 Students can perform some functions of language necessary for research and work in specialized fields and can understand and use materials that are not familiar such as politics, economy, society and culture in general. Students can use appropriate language by distinguishing both formal and informal contexts and spoken and written contexts.
Level 6 Students can perform the language functions required for their research and professional work relatively accurately and fluently, and understand and use topics unfamiliar to them, such as politics, economics, society, and culture. Students may not reach the level of native speaker, but does not suffer difficulty in functional performance or meaning expression.
